Things to do here on wonderful West Coast of the South Island are exciting and unique. The Pancake rocks and blowholes at Punakaiki are spectacular. Punakaiki is on State highway No. 6 and has just been voted as one of the most 8 wonderous highways of the world by the Lonley Planet publication.
Shantytown Historic gold mining village (just 6 minutes drive from my homestay) is an amazing experience also with the vintage steam train rides being the main attraction for everyone.

Walk in the rain forest bush walks unique to the West Coast. Some are just an hours duration and the Giant King Ferns are just awe inspiring as you casually walk through these public free walkways. I have enjoyed walking most of these wonderful bush walks.
